Polishing Barrel Drum
Wire Nail Making Machines produce wire nails. The machines polish and finish the nails, turning them into polished and finished products. The quality of the Nails produced depends upon the wire used on the Machine. The wire received from the supplier often appears dull due to the Wire Drawing process and may also become rusted due to weather conditions. Consequently, the wire used for cutting nails lacks brightness and shine, resulting in dull-looking nails.
Such finishes are never acceptable to buyers. Thus, the Nails do require polishing which results in attractive finished products.
To overcome this difficulty, the machine known as a Polishing Barrel Drum has been devised. The polishing barrels are available in two sizes viz. 250 kg and 500 kg. Capacities per charge.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1)To load the polishing barrel, follow these steps:
- Position wire nails approximately 3 to 4 inches above the halfway mark of the barrel.
- Fill the remaining portion of the barrel with sawdust.
- If the nails are rusty, it is advisable to mix a small amount of paraffin oil (around half a litre of kerosene) with the sawdust before adding it to the barrel.
Close the barrel with a blind lid and rotate it for approximately 10 minutes. After this step, load the barrel with sawdust again and turn it for about 30 minutes. Remove the blind lid and replace it with a perforated lid to extract the sawdust by rotating the barrel. Continue this process again for about 40 minutes loading the barrel with fresh sawdust. This will result in a bright shining look of Wire Nails. You can re-use the sawdust used in the second sequence for the first cycle of the same process in the next batch. This ensures the economy of Saw Dust and solves the storage space.
2) If the mirror finish is required on the Nails, it is advisable to use SOFT LEATHER PIECES in the second sequence of polishing instead of Saw Dust, 15 to 20 kg. of such LEATHER PIECES are required for 250 kg. Capacity Polishing Barrel. These LEATHER PIECES can be applied repeatedly for about 15 to 20 cycles until they become very oily.
